First AHRA General Meeting in 2017Published date: 11 April 2017
The Aruba Human Resources Association held its first General Meeting for 2017 on February 1, 2017 at La Cabana Beach Resort and Casino’s conference room.
The meeting started with a presentation by Mr. Alexander Reeberg from Hyrax Consultants & Risk Management Institute regarding Safety Inspectors as required by law. As per January 1, 2017 the law requires for all companies to have a certified safety inspector on property to inspect and report a company’s risks and give recommendations to improve safety within the company.
In Mr. Reeberg presentation, he explained the importance of a certified safety inspector. He then gave an insight on what the 40-hour safety inspector course entail. According to Mr. Reeberg this safety course will provide participants with the knowledge and understanding for implementing and managing a successful Occupational Safety and Health program. A few of the topics that are covered in the course are: National legislation, International regulations, Risks, Analysis, Evaluation and Risk Control, Occupational diseases, Work-Related Stress, Work at height and Safety, Safety in Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Fire Prevention & Control, Emergency Procedures and First Aid, Safety Inspections, Investigation and Reporting of Accidents, Accident Statistics, Toolbox talks and General Obligations, Responsibilities and Duties of the Safety Inspector. The Safety Inspector certification will be provided by the DTI (Dienst Technische Inspecties) at the completion of the course with a passing grade.
After Mr. Reeberg’s Safety Inspector Presentation the meeting continued with the installation of AHRA’s new board members for 2017-2018 which was led by Mrs. Tessely Koolman (AHRA’s Immediate Past President). The new board members recited AHRA’s Credo and got the chance to introduce themselves one by one to the AHRA members. The new AHRA board members are:

- Director of Membership: Charlene Nectar

- Director of Labor Relations: Gabriella Helder
- Director of Finance Fundraising: Zain Acosta
After the installation, Mr. Tito de Cuba, AHRA’s new president gave a brief presentation regarding the plans for AHRA in 2017-2018.
The AHRA Board would like to extend its gratitude to all its members for their continuous support and for their presence at AHRA’s first General meeting of 2017. AHRA is very proud of its achievements in the past years and is very excited with its plans for the coming years ahead.
